#ACER E5 575 DISABLE SECURE BOOT WINDOWS 10 PASSWORD#
I have to set the password, change a few settings (like turning of secure boot), then go back to set the password to empty (just in case I should forget it). Some bios settings is locked when the "supervisor password" is not set.

Power button doesn't work when the system is booted into Windows (firmware issue?) But there's a sleep button (Fn+F4). Too wide of a HDMI connector or a wide USB device like a card reader obviously won't work together. Next you’ll be booted in to Windows normally. Press F10 to save and exit the UEFI settings. Press the Enter key and change its value to Disabled. This time you’ll see that you can actually access the Secure Boot option and change its value. The spacing of the two USBs and HDMI only allow for very compact devices. Once you have set the supervisor password, move to Boot tab now. Overall Review: The ports on the left side is kind of tight together. For this reason I wouldn't recommend this machine for any photography or graphic design use.Īlso this is the reason for a 4-egg score, because the gamma so far off that it's out of the range of Window's calibration's adjustment, so even after calibration it's still not optimal. Most ports are on the left side, RJ45, VGA, HDMI, and 2 USB3.0 and they don't conflict with the mouse on the right side.ĭue to the absence of 2.5 inch HDD and DVD drive, and a 4 cell battery, the machine feels very light.Ĭons: Display gamma is way off, so out-of-the-box the screen looks gray (very ugly).ġ) use Fn+right arrow to adjust bright to 50% or your most comfortable use case.Ģ) go to start menu, search "calibrate display color", run it,ģ) in the "calibrate display color" program, adjust the gamma bar to the point when the dot is least visible, in my case I need pull the slider to the bottom,Ĥ) at the brightness step ("black X"), open "Intel HD Graphics Control Panel", select "Color Settings", choose "Built-in Display", adjust brightness so that the "black X" is barely visibe, in my case, brightness value is 10,ĥ) at the contrast step (white shirt), adjust contrast slider in "Intel HD Graphics Control Panel" > "Color Settings" adjust contrast so that the white shirt is just about to saturate and lose details, in my case the contrast value is 47.Ībove steps makes the built-in display look "normal", compared my other display, acer GR235H. Memory is single DIMM 8GB DDR4, and there's an empty slot for upgrade, I added a 4GB DDR4 taken form a Lenovo Flex 4 and it works fine.

Maybe you can add another HDD or DVD drive there. There's a place holder for the DVD drive, but I don't know if there's SATA interface inside for it, didn't check.

SSD is M2 and there's a empty compartment for another 2.5 inch drive, but you need to buy the drive mount from acer (available at acer's website, $8?).
